FWIW, MP4 videos should play on both OSX and Windows. The M4V file format is a video container format developed by Apple and is very similar to the MP4 format. Aug 10, 2018 But luckily, there are file systems well supported by both Mac and Windows PC, and they are FAT32 (it might be called MS-DOS on Mac) and exFAT. As long as we format the external hard drive to one of these 2 file systems, it can be shared between Mac and Windows. Mar 15, 2018 Rather than use a Mac-formatted drive, you should get the important files off of it and use exFAT-formatted drives for moving data between Macs and PCs. To format the drive in Windows, right-click it in the File Explorer window and select “Format.” Choose the.
Thank you for reaching out and using the Apple Support Communities. We see from your post that your seeking a way to make your MP4 videos viewable on both Mac and Windows PCs. Having that shared compatibility between both operating systems is very important, especially when you want to share to them with others.

In this situation, the best way to ensure that both a Mac and a Windows PC can access the videos from the same external device is to make sure the device is in the correct disk format. This article explains how to format a device or disk (e.g. USB flash drive, external hard drive) into the proper format that is accessible by both Mac and Windows computers: Disk Utility 12.x: Format a disk for Windows computers

- edited December 2017Which Mac version? You can convert from Windows to Mac but going the other way might not work. Search the forum.
- edited December 2017Almost impossible to convert from Quicken Mac to Quicken Windows.
Suggest you search on this forum for advice in doing so..but it's not pretty, at all. - edited October 2018Hi John.
I would be happy to help you with this question.
In Quicken for Mac, you would need to do a File>Export>Quicken Windows Transfer File (QXF):
Save this file on your Desktop or somewhere where you can find it. We recommend either the Desktop or on a flash drive.
On the Windows side:
Click on File > File Import > Quicken Transfer format (.QXF) file
Let us know if you have any issues. This should get everything moved over..

But Harold, if you've even read any of the comments on here regarding converting from Quicken Mac to Quicken Windows, you'd notice that what you proposed doesn't work.
And if you get any semblance of it to work, transfers are horrendously messed up as are any investment transactions.
Go ahead..do what you propose..but don't expect ANY reasonable conversion that won't require days of making adjustments and corrections.
Once again, search on this forum for 'Convert Mac to Windows' and see the replies and the results. And every superuser on this forum will tell you that it doesn't work. - edited October 2018GOOD LUCK!!! Reasonable expectations need to be set on this..This process has been documented to be broken since QW2013, though apparently there has been some minor improvement in QW2018. That said, the biggest problem is that categorization of transactions get woefully messed up beyond reasonable recovery in MOST cases, with other related issues. There have been VERY FEW documented success stories.
Like @B Hawks says, do your research..
Of course, the proof is in the pudding, so you can simply try it, and if it fails, you can always return the product within the 30-day money-back guarantee period, if it applies.

I'd be more curious to see how he got this to work easy peasy.
Personally, I'd rather just start over from a specific date (now January 1, 2018 would be a nice starting point) than try to get this to work. - edited December 2017Hi John.

Importing of investment accounts isn't supported by the Windows QFX import. So in a sense that part isn't 'messed up', it non existing. - edited December 2017Here's one of the posts that folks are suggesting you search for:
